Attractive B&W portrait, Howard. I think the choice of grey background is good in this case. Skintone is pleasing. The blur on the child's hands does add to the liveliness of this shot.

Good idea that is nicely executed. Would prefer a little more sharpness in the child's face. Still, an effective image.

This was a tough one - I liked it, but something wasn't quite right to me. I did what I tend to do probably more than others, which is crop to draw attention to the faces more. Cropping is such a personal choice, so feel free to disagree with me. I'll post for comparison.

Howard- I like the pose and the hand movement of the child and I do like Kim's crop a little better, but my only critique is that the woman needs a little more light on her face to avoid the dark eye shadows. Maybe a white reflector. The light on the child's face seems to be coming from above and to the left, it also causes the dark eye shadows. If you placed a reflector opposite the left light it would bounce just a little light up onto their faces and prevent the eye shadows. You know how I like to see the eyes!:) Did you take this inside or out, natural light? Fill flash may have helped too. Wonderful pose and expression of the two.

Jayme, it was 100% natural light from a window. The shot was made inside without flash. I just wanted to see what would happen. The pose is good but you are right about the eye shadows.

I think I should stick to what I do best. I was thinking of you the entire shoot. It was a favor for a friend. Interestingly enough, she preferred the candid image over the posed image. The print will be a Father's Day gift.

I like this portrait a lot. Interesting isolation of the kid and his mom from the rest of the happening. Composition is nice and this shot makes me wonder what is going on.

I like it,how You show it.I see a tremendeous solidarity, without any fuss. As stable and dependible, as Your photo is.

Hi Howard! Not sure I have much to add here. I don't necessarily like the hair in the eyes, but that's just how some people wear their hair. I like your posed image, but can see the appeal of the one that she chose, as it looks like they're really having a great time. :-)

Kevin, thanks for stopping by. I may have cropped a bit off the bottom to get a landscape orientation. My choice as I wanted some space at the top of the head.
