maria 7 Posted December 18, 2005 This is a piece of Romanian architecture completing well the one in the photo I have just submitted for critique. Note the spiral at the towers. It is one of the photos I have taken most longly ago, and the film, which wasn't of exceptional quality when new, wasn't in the best state either when scanned. There is a legend about the way this monastery was built. The main builder, Mesterul Manole, had to sacrifice his wife, by building her into the wall, after the walls built over the day kept falling down during the night. The builders agreed to sacrifice the wife who will come first to bring food and drink to her husband, and this was the one of the main builder. After this, the monastery became the most beautiful one ... Link to comment
