emily_parton 0 Posted June 3, 2005 I like the shot but it looks very 'unreal' and manipulated to me. Link to comment
nabs 0 Posted June 3, 2005 Yeah me too. I think the background has a bit of a plastic feel to it which i think is not desirable in nature shots. However, apart from that its a nice photo. Regards Link to comment
mark lucas 0 Posted June 3, 2005 Yes, Emily - "not manipulated". This was shot at f4.0 , I think, with a background of grass. All I've done is increase contrast and saturation in Photoshop. Link to comment
cappoldt 0 Posted June 4, 2005 I'd argue that a background like this is PRECISELY what you want in nature shots - espcially when you want to isolate your subjects. "Unnatural" would be if the background were purple and pink. Well, this little fellow sure took on a big job with that spade - I suspect he's still digging. Link to comment

timreaves 0 Posted June 4, 2005 I have to agree with Christopher. Very good shot Mark! Link to comment
atle.g 0 Posted June 4, 2005 The DOF and background works very well, and the main object is sufficient sharp. My only suggestion for improvment would be to reccommend a tight(er) top crop... wich is particularly needed here because of the way the main objects are arranged and the fact that the bird is looking down, wich makes this amount of space at the top more or less vasted. Regards! Link to comment
john_weaver1 0 Posted June 5, 2005 I'm tempted to disagree with Mr Atle - I respect his opinion, but beg to differ, cropping would make it more claustraphobic. Link to comment
