the best music photography is simply catching the best performers on a

stage doing what they do best. This is all this shot is trying to do.

This one is great James! Even the electic wires on the front work well for the composition. Perhaps the sound monitors behind his leg are a bit distracting, but I suppose the shape of the leg would be lost if removed. I've always wondered how near to the musician you must be for those wide angle concert photos, I've never have the chance to do something like that.

I get an error when I try to insert my rating, but it would be 6/6. Congratulations! :c))

how close was I? about 12 inches away from his foot. I love my new 10-22mm lens , gets some great effects when you get close up to the stage

Awesome composition there! Did you use a flash? I've been contemplating the 10-22 but am a bit wary of it due to the terrible lighting at most of the venues I shoot at.

no flash but it is a reasonably big venue so the stage lighting was quite good. I bought the 10-22 mainly for band portrait work but I've got some really impressive live shots from it too

i know this shot must be good cos only the best shots seem to get the 1/1 treatment from the anonymous raters :-)

Yeah it looks great at what focal lenght did you shoot? 12mm? I would like to see other photos from this gig.

Amazing photo!!

I getting into live photography and I would really love to know how to get such shots. Should I get a fast lens? Like 1.4/1.8? Also, how did you get this and not have it be so grainy?

Thanks much,

Cody
