Beautiful shot. Well focused, composed, interesting subject. Great oof bkgnd. I ran this through NeatImage to see what it would do with the (minimal) noise in the background (not that it really needs it - it's a very fine photo as it is). Nonetheless, what do you think? I liked that program so much I bough the commercial version (no, I don't work for them:).

Gaetan, very nice compostion, color, and just the right lighting to get the catch light in his eye. Looks like you easily transitioned into bird photography! ^_^

Thank you for your comment. I have not make PS work with this photo. I am not sure if reducing the contrast will help but I agree with you the background could be a little bit lighter to show more green coloration.

It was only my second day with my new lens and starting to make serious bird photos. Yes the transition is not difficult. I am very happy with my purchase of the Canon 400mm f/5.6. Those photos are hand held with the help of a chair to make the work easier. Also I try to have nice bokeh and I think that my work in macro photos help.

Yes those points (clarity, time of day, composition and dof) are very important for me. The Canon 400mm give sharp image at f/5.6 and I am working at 400 ISO those help a lot.
