I like this shot. Very nice. I did see it earlier in color....now I am thinking about your comment about the honesty of B&W. Thinking back, I think this B&W version makes you focus more on the main person up front, without all the colors to distract you.

Howard- I love the glow on his hair, the perfect DOF that includes the man on the right, the subjects expression is perfect. My only nit pick is I want to see all the bottom finger. Otherwise, this one captures real feeling! Love the B&W!

Really like that back lighting that gives the fellow a nice glow. Nice composition and capture of action. The black & white is a good way to go, too. I wish though to see more shadow detail in front of his body and maybe a bit more on his hat. Nice one still. ^_^

bag pipes must be a parade standard these days. I shot some too. I dont think mine were worth looking at twice. nice job, Howard.

Just a comment on shadow detail. Personally I think it's best as-is originally simply because the forms aren't complicated to distract from the details of interest like his expression and the lighting off the pipes and his hair, etc. IMHO, there's nothing to add to the pic by reducing contrast, and a lot to lose. A great pic, BTW, perfect timing it seems.

Howard, all was said,B/W is a very nice choice here.composition is very ballanced with the diagonal pipes direction, and the head of the person behind..( I wish you did not take out the image about the flag, was a real good shot) Pnina
