In Your Eyes

jvophotography

Going back through some old photos and found this one. I liked it the first time I saw it but never found a version / edit I cared for. Finally I think this struck my fancy. Thoughts and comments aprpeciated.

desaturated all but her eye. Increased saturation in the eye and

enhanced reflection of the sky and grass. Thoughts and comments are

greatly appreciated. PELASE CRITIQUE! :-)

Striking effect. I like the soft tones. The increased saturation of the eyes draws one right to them. The expression is of troubled innocence.

I like this much, it is a nice, original viewpoint and fits to the child.

Would have liked the background softer and also it has a color cast on my monitor.

Thank you all for the comments. Much appreciated for taking the time.

Rene, do you mean by "colorcast" that the background shows color?

I lowered the saturation on the whole image save for her eye. I didn't make it totally in B/W which I did try and for some reason I was more inclined to go with a touch of color. Thoughts on that welcome.

Renny, also on your comment "troubled innocense", I had considered naming the piece "pensive" and ended choosing as I did. She was actually in the process of complaining that she was DONE with this shoot and wanted to go home. She flopped on the grass and was telling me she was bored. So I flopped on the grass with her and took the picture. :-) Thank you for the thoughtful comments.

Good composition Joe but IMO I think you can omit the embossed frame as it looks like there is distortion in the rendering in the upper portion.

Hey Alec. Thanks for stopping in. I keep looking at the image and I'm not seeing the distortion???? Am I missing it?? You're the first to comment on my new frames. :-( Hope it's just a rendering issue and not an actual problem since I kinda liked them.

Anywho... good seein you.

I like this a lot. I would consider toning down the bit of yellow in the background just to eliminate any distractions from the girl's face. My eyes want to bounce from her eyes to the yellow and back again. I love the viewpoint on this composition - on a kid's level.

Worthwhile comment. Duely noted. For some reason, I have seen that the yellow appears stronger on different monitors. I may just tone it down just because. In print it doesn't appear that strong. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.

Joe, very nice presentation. The pose and treatment give the image a very soft, innocent, nostalgic feel. I like it. ^_^

Joe, by color cast I mean that the face has a touch of green instead of natural skin color. However, this may well be my monitor.

As far as I can tell, it's the monitor. I can't see any particular color to it. I dunno, maybe it's my monitor not properly showing the green that you are properly seeing? :-)

Thanks for taking the time to come back and explain.
