Sean Tucker rolling into a knife-edge pass over Jones Beach, NY.

Believe it or not, he's less than 50' off the deck!

Any thoughts or comments are welcome.

I appreciate and respect you opinion and have shots of Sean at higher altitudes. However I feel by including the "flight deck", in this case the ocean, it offers a point perspective and that of the aircrafts' attitude over ground. I understand this is a personal opinion, but if I was to post the same image without the horizon, the aircraft could be flying anywhere, and at any altitude.

Hi Norman,

I agree without the water or something to give the look of danger you loose the "WOW" effect.

Good shot,Bill

great shot to include the water , without it it would be (just another aircraft shot) nice shutter speed and well panned. i am convinced that the low raters of aircraft shots have no real concept of how hard it is to take not a good shot but a great shot. keep up the good work . I will be watching...LOL 6/6

Fantasitc shot Norman - prop blur is spot on yet you have managed to keep the focus sharp; shows great technique. The only comment I could make as a critque would be to place the aircraft slightly further to the left of the frame to suggest more movement across, but agree with other comments about the sea - it helps it give a sense of place.

Thank you very much for the kind words. I try to simply keep the subject in the center of my shot and pan with him using slower shutter speeds to not only blur the prop, but also the horizon.

Norman, I was drawn to your portfolio through the comment you left on my P-40 shot. I have to say, you have some really great work! I'm no critic, just one who knows what appeals to me. I was trying to pick a favorite from your portfolio (very difficult to narrow down) and this is up there. I also enjoy your F-15's and F-16's very much! Thanks for showing your work here, its some of the best I've seen.

Thank you very much. I try to use my camera to get me closer to the things I love. Formula racing is one but aircraft is another. I appreciate your kind words... They mean a lot to me because I think we are always learning from those who have come before us and there are a LOT of skilled artists here on photo.net! If you want to see some really special work with regards to aircraft, look at Martin Stott's work I really like what he has done as well as the work of Steve Kay. Both of these guys have some really nice work (as well as access to some of the worlds best air shows) I highly recommend their work.
