The Shop Window and Shopper, is a 'street photo' (black line is a

window frame separation). Your ratings and critiques are invited

and most welcome. (If you rate harshly or very critically, please

submit a helpful and constructive comment/Please share your superior

knowledge to help improve my photography) Thanks! Enjoy! John

I think the girl could be reacting to the scream from the poster but not looking at the camera...too posed.

You have presumed too much. The advertising poster woman is not screaming at all -- she is posing; nothing more, and demonstrating a fur coat/collar -- multicolored at that. That's what fashion sales is all about -- not drama.

It just so happens that the young woman, right, happens to have coloring almost exactly the same as the woman in the poster. She, however, is a drama student, I understand, and probably is capable of screaming convincingly -- (not here, however).

I happened to have future contact with the woman, right, and she was given a print of this photo -- took this photo to her mother -- who almost wept when she saw it -- it showed her daughter so beautiful.

Omitted from the comments -- this photo is full frame -- uncropped. It was manipulated slightly, as the window top was in full sunlight/the window buttom and the young woman were in deep shadow. The Photoshop CS shadow/highlight tool were used to even out the rendition with some resultant chromatic pixellation in the young woman's cheeks.

However, the chromic nature of that pixellation is 'helpful' in my opinion' to the photo, as she naturally is quite ruddy/red cheeked with beautiful overall coloring -- using almost no makeup at all (except some lip gloss to 'taste') and with the red cheeks (with chromic pixellation), naturally honey blonde-red hair juxtaposed in front of the multi-colored fur/fur collar the model is wearing in the poster, one couldn't ask for a nicer color 'match.'

(One could have asked that the black vertical window frame, left center, not be there, but that's 'street shooting'.)

I think this is a compelling composition. Again, I get it with the full frame idea. For me, I would have cropped at the black line on the left to make a square image say 10x10. Still enjoyable as is.

This young woman, then 17 and now just turned 18, appears in 'Refreshing Pause on the Street' the Coke poster photo, taken when I just met her and we were walking -- but still a true 'street' candid as she did not pose, and also 'Springtime Boat Ride'.

She's a Russian by parentage, with parents living and working in Ukraine, accounting for a slightly different 'look' than one commonly finds in Ukraine. To me, this is one of my favorite photos, a double portrait, where the repetition is in the somewhat sameness of the department store graphic, center/left rear with her -- with reds predominating. I so far have left in pixelation on her face, caused by 'raising the shadows' in shadow/highlight filter in Photoshop CS, as the scattered colors from pixellation seem to 'mirror' the ruddiness and randomness of the colors in the fur behind her as well as the poster woman's facial coloring - the coloring of both figure is quite similar.

(If I wanted to 'clean up' this pixellation, I would turn either to 'Noise Ninja' or to the despeckle filter on Photoshop CS.
