hanna_cowpe 0 Posted May 28, 2005 I'd like some feedback on balance and tones. Is the white too bright? Is the pillar too close to center? Thanks for your time. Link to comment
rapo 0 Posted May 30, 2005 I really like this image. It deserves much better than the ratings you get! The white is OK, same for the composition. Nice color balance too. Yours Link to comment
abintraphoto 0 Posted May 30, 2005 Crop the right 1/3rd ......... I guess, hell I don't know ... sol. Things could be edgier I suppose .... Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted May 30, 2005 Philippe, thankyou for your supportive comment. It doesn't surprize me that this got such a wide range of rates. In fact this is the first of my images that has recieved everything from a 1 to a 7, which I find very amusing. I think abstract is not to everyone's taste. Some people doen't understand it and some can't be bothered to try. C'est la vie, n'est ce pas? Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted May 31, 2005 Ken, the good thing about abstract is you can use your imagination. Things can be as edgy as you like. Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted June 1, 2005 Beautiful abstract, Hanna. I love it....!!! Nice colors, too."Mixed Media on Canvas"... "Oil on Panel"... "Acrylic on Panel"... these are some descriptions I am reminded of. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted June 2, 2005 I like it, Hanna, but I am not sure about the top. The horizontal band could be cut back, I believe. A tiny bit off left and right could work, too, in my opinion, but the right side is too nice to want to crop much off of it. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted June 2, 2005 Something like this appears a bit more liquid to me, Hanna, although I might have taken too much off the top. I also put the narrowest of black borders on it. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted June 2, 2005 On the other hand, the colors left and right are so nice that maybe leaving them and taking a lot off the top could work. This could be an interesting subject for more shoots, in my opinion. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted June 2, 2005 And with a light, airy frame. . . . I guess that you could say that I am intrigued by the possibilities in this photo, Hanna. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted June 2, 2005 Lannie, you have been busy, and it's nice to see this has caught your imagination. This is the reflection of one of the buildings at a local university. Its front support structure stands in a shallow pool surrounded by cedar trees. It's a delightful piece of architecture. I like all of your crop suggestions; some more than others. I'll have to save them to file and compare them side by side to see which looks best. Brad, thanks for stopping by. It's always good to hear from you. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted June 12, 2005 Hanna, I always think a shot with a wide spread of ratings indicates something that is good but too original for some to appreciate. My wife just looked at the screen at your shot and said 'Oh, I like that!' and she also preferred your original to Lannie's alternatives. I can understand why Lannie tried though - I had a go myself but could not improve on yours. But this looks like a shot with a hundred possibilities and worth playing about with a bit. hanna_cowpe 0 Posted June 13, 2005 Colin, tell your wife 'thankyou' for me and that she has good taste (; I guess you could turn this any way, crop it, chop it and mix it up. Hmm, it's starting to look like a salad. Link to comment
