Flower amoung Flowers (Ver.3)

jvophotography

I am resubmitting this in its original version. I like the dreamy effect of the first submission but I'm curious to see what everyone elses thoughts are. Comments appreciated. (Thanks to a comment, I have edited to make it brighter.)

This is also nice but much darker than the other. I like the soft light but perhaps a little brighter?

This is my second submission of this piece. I originally submitted it

with a fuzzy look. This is the original (Slightly lightened.) Is it

preferable to the fuzzy version? thoughts and comments much appreciated.

She has such a sweet face and the emotion you captured is wonderful. It seems that it is exposed for the background instead of her face and this takes out some of the umph of the photo. Though I do love the yellow flowers and how they frame her.

Thank you so much for the comments. This was literally the LAST shot of the morning and she didn't want to be in the sun and my wife had already packed the reflector up. I saw this patch of yellow flowers and wanted to shoot her in them. So, she sat at the edge of the sun in the shade which made it a challenge to properly meter the shot. I didn't want to blow out the flowers so I figured better to under expose her and get the background right. It was a tricky endeavor. Your observations are right on. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. Much appreciated.

Much better Joe. Normally for outdoor shots most pros shoot with a gold or silver reflector to bounce off the shadow areas on the face. You will also get great eye reflection which give the image more punch. I never leave home without one for outdoor work with people.

Yep. I hear ya. I bought a 52" reflector (gold on one side and white on the other) and it definitely adds that punch. Had my wife not already packed it up and was half way back to the car, I'd have been using it in this shot. Ohhhh well. C'est life.
