jay weston 0 Posted May 24, 2005 A different angle of the same scene (Maslins Cliffs 1) with a much shorter shutter speed. Thanks for looking. Link to comment
lancelothuang 0 Posted May 24, 2005 Good Image. But the sun is over-exposured. If you can darken the high light in photoshop, or just crop the sky and keep only the sea and the shore. Link to comment
donald_l_fackler_jr 0 Posted May 25, 2005 You have been posting some impressive shots. I actually like the sun the way it is because it is hard to look at and for me it makes me think I am there. I just wish you had a wider lense to give me more perspective to the right of the photo. I think it would have helped it to be more balanced. Don Link to comment
jay weston 0 Posted May 25, 2005 Thanks Don! Heres the original wide shot, Im not sure which I prefer. I used to think definitely square but now I dont know... Tell me what you reckon. Cheers. Link to comment
donald_l_fackler_jr 0 Posted May 25, 2005 In this case I think the wider shot is better as it has created some natural boundries that help to direct the viewer into the shot. I like the ridge on the right as it pulls my focus gently in a circular movement that somehow seems natural. I think it is the natural boundry that makes this a better landscape shot over a square shot as the square seems to let you have avenues of escape. I also think I like the less muted tonal range too. I liked the square versions colors and soft textures until I saw the new posting now the sharpness and rich colors really make it stand out. Don Link to comment
michaelhills 0 Posted June 6, 2005 Jay, I too like the blownout sun - its akin to what the viewer will see in reality. Makes for a great 'traditional' landscape image? Not sure, but it sure does work for me :) By the way, I prefer your original format to the landscape version which is strange for me as I usually favour 'panoramic' formats over others. You have some stunning work in your portfolio. Very impressive... till later, M. Link to comment
