For me the image seems quite contrasty (blown out sky and parts of the statue; dark/black faces of the humans).

It was good to have the people in the shot and for them not to be the first point of interest since it adds an extra dimension or ah ha when you see them.

You know when I visited this temple with my cousins ten years ago, for some reason, we never went all the way up to see this statue. We just hung around the beach. :-) Now I know what I missed.

yes,the temple is very interesting,it's 500 years old and this statue was built by someone from this town who made it big in bangalore.i myself was there on a diving trip.
