j.b._junson 0 Posted May 27, 2005 This is such a beautiful photograph. Nature seems to be rising up to fight back against the basic and harsh lines of the urban archtecture. The sawed off tree trunk in the foreground is quite disturbing...and I love photographs that disturb me. Link to comment
maria 7 Posted May 28, 2005 Hi, thank you for commenting on this one. I have just uploaded a version with brighter colours (slightly more saturated). Actually I chose it from a whole film of Hollabrunn photos because it seemed varicoloured and thought that fits with the concept of Santorini, where the dwellings grow organically. The concept of "Wohnen morgen" (Tomorrow's residences) in Hollabrunn (1972-76) is to have a primary structure like shelves (that reinforced concrete columns, beams and slabs), in which demontable "infill" dwellings are put, after a participative concept of the inhabitants. I have made a more extensive review of it in a paper published in an international scientific journal, and also on my webpage (in German). About the nature, yes, I was pleasantly surprised. One of the advantages of taking photos several decades after the complex was built. Not always the historic photos visualise best the substance of a project. kind regardsMaria Link to comment
maria 7 Posted September 24, 2005 This is one of the representative early participative architecture examples, and here the change through time can be seen. I find that the vegetation and the initiatives in painting contributed a lot to the quality of the half-private space. Maria Link to comment
