tbartler 0 Posted August 19, 2005 Great series. It is hard to pick my favourite. BW with grain fits the subject very well Link to comment
tomsperduto 0 Posted August 21, 2005 This photo is great. I love it. The light, the comp the controlled background everything works, His gesture speaks loudly about who he is and gives purpose and meaning for the photo. 7/7 Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 21, 2005 Extremelly hard. Simply spectacular: no sommersault or fireworks, only a lonely man walking through the street. No other words are necessary. This picture talks by itself. Nice view the car's lights and their reflection on the background. Congratulations, you really have talent. Link to comment
taner 3 Posted September 7, 2005 now this is a shot with impact; this is how I read it - the subject commands a presence regardless of his environment: "...this [the experience of being homeless] is about me, not about this neighborhood or this city..." The way you told this story makes it 'sound' like a personal story to me, rather than a Copenhagen story. The shallow depth of field is certainly one factor, and an important one, but there are others - even if this street had been f/16-22 sharp in the background, I still cannot imagine it being a highly instantly recognizable Copenhagen street. Had the background been a Copenhagen landmark, shallow DOF or not, everything would have changed. I am sure you realize that I trying to point out the disconnect between the shot and its title - otherwise I love the shot. Having enjoyed a manual focus 35mm film camera (a classic Minolta: XD 7/11) with nothing but a fast 35mm prime lens (MC 35mm f/1.8) on the streets myself (before going digital due to not being able to shoot as much as I want with film), I say cheers.
