Stairsteps To Forever

oswegophoto

Shot aperture priority at f/32 with +2 EV compensation, centered on sun, expected diffraction, didn't get any. Post: levels to match print, flipped upside down and cropped.

Almost sunset with high clouds (producing colors and patterns I liked) and a couple of

contrails. This one was shot straight into the sun at f/32, with +2 EV compensation; I

really wasn't sure what I'd end up with.

Well, I like it too... The shades, the colors and patterns in the clouds draw one in! I do wish for a little more of the cloud space at the top.

I thoroughly agree. I took every pixel I could at the top. If you look at a looser (and non-inverted) crop of the next frame on the roll here, and notice where the trees and dark clouds are, you'll see what I was up against, since I couldn't include anything that'd look wrong inverted, and it really does (IMO) look better inverted, placing the sun at the top. But I'm happy you see what I see, here: patterns and colors making a kind of landscape in the sky. Thank you; it's nice to have you come along after the grumpy fellow who types in all caps and just hates this shot (though he can't articulate his reasons). I feel better, now, and wish for a little fill-flash in your current portrait. ;-)

Edit, a few days later: the grumpy fellow's rating has been deleted.

Ah! In this version you have stair steps to forever. Creative. But the other photo is nice too. As for my current photo... a little mystery is fun once in a while!

I loved this one for a variety of reasons...

the colours the (implied) textures the tones the lines the fact that I am at once reminded of rich hard wood tones as well as glorious late summer evenings.

Beautiful.

ps, couldn't help myself, had a little play. just wanted to see what it would look like...

Thanks! First, woodgrain was exactly what I saw in the sky, with the sun as a sort of knot, so it's neat to hear that from you. Second, I really like your, um, double-take on this. Addictive, I fear, ain't it, tweakin' 'em?

Clouds are a interesting element in nature, taking shapes & forms that beyond our control. Indeed lovely patterns & colours.

Wow: another 1/1 rating! Don't you just love the new complete anonymity? Ah, well ... maybe it's a bot.

Don, I had a very similar experience with my new shots. Some give very low rates, others write that the shot could be winning the best abstract award... damn it. life is compilcated. go figure © Jayme.

Sshhhh! the CIA (for whom Chuck Barris & I work as contract assassins, doesn't want you to know (1/1 trolls better watch out, though: that one got deleted). 8-)

[if clicking image for full-size version doesn't clear things up, check your monitor, see your optometrist or have someone read it to you. Seriously, though, this ID card is so old it was—as you can see—also a primitive machine-readable computer punch card, beveled corner and all. Nearly qualifies as archeology.]

RE's comments made me look - ahem, nice prof pic.

I read recently that you can get personalised stamps now in the US... the smoking gun dot com was very informative... your pic reminded me of that strangely enuff. Hope you have chance to read the article, so as I don't laff at this on my own lol.

Cheers, El

Beautitful sky and the patterns remind me of teak. What a good idea to flip this. I like your framing as well.

Nice biography too !

Don,

Image (the!poem!thought provoking), is quite a question - the legacy or the artist himself... i suppose, i don't know, perhaps it's in the word itself:

i'm age

So, a salute to forever!

To is and are and everywhen.

R.
