Rocco and one of his long-legged ladies? Go, Rocco! I'm not familiar with "Laoconte's Myth"...would you please advise? I'm sure it would add to the humor in this photo of Rocco, the Mythical Dog. Thanks! Regards, J

Hi J, I'm happy that, as you are one of Rocco's Official Supporters, you like this photo.

Actually Laoconte's is a rather "bitter end" story. He was one of those Trojan priest who told to the King of Troy not to bring the "Horse of Troy" inside the city. While he was holding a sacrifice in Poseidon's honor by the sea two enormous snakes coiled him up (is that correct?) and brought him into the sea. The Trojan thought it was a punishment because of his advise to leave the horse outside Troy, and allowed the horse to get in. There are a lot of baroque statues of Laoconte fighting against the snakes (the most famous is by Michelangelo) in which Loaoconte has more or less (;-)) the same position of Rocco in this shot. But, thank God, Rocco was -this time- quite far away from the sea, and, instead of the snakes the enemy was his long-legged girlfriend Bell!!!

Carlo, Ah! Thank you for explaining. Knowing the story makes this image even more enjoyable! Yes, yes, yes, I can feel Rocco's struggle as he is all tangled up in Bell's dangerous snakey legs. Regards, J

Great, I did not remember the name of the myth but immediatelly thought of that Michelangelo statue when I saw this. It makes me wonder where he got his inspiration from ;-)
