maria 7 Posted May 12, 2005 I'd rather leave it without message - the subject tells it all. Please comment how far it comes across! thanks Maria Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted May 12, 2005 Hello Maria, this is nice, but without being exciting. The gigantic scale of some othe the Vienna buildings makes them very difficult to photograph, I think. Link to comment
maria 7 Posted May 12, 2005 Hi Peter, thanks for the comment. Please watch my Vienna folder for more (and smaller) [buildings] to come, next week, I think. Right now only the Sch?nbrunn film is scanned, as that one was negative, not slides. This is the photo I liked most, as there were no tourist crowds in it (on those where the whole castle was included, there are ..., see above) regards Maria Link to comment
maria 7 Posted May 12, 2005 and once more tourists (with whole building). Of course, in the photo submitted for critique, there are tourists as well, just that they don't look as such. I liked the way the facade looks like "drawn" (like in some coloured post cards from the time coloured postcards started to be made), and hoped that the plastering in the foreground will look grey enough to fit to the concept :) [going to look if I find such a postcard for an example] Maria Link to comment
nicholasprice 0 Posted May 12, 2005 Hello Maria. I was there in 1992, and your photograph has brought back many happy memories. I think this photograph works best as part of the sequence that you have presented. You have a good knack, of creating photographs which allow us to experience your travels! Fond regards, Nick. maria 7 Posted May 12, 2005 Hi Nick, thanks for your comment, as always :) I hope to have some better photos in Vienna next week scanned, so keep watching the folder! ;) Back in 2001/2002 I corresponded with a British guy. In one of the discussion I asked him something like "do you know what is a tourist?" - his answer: "yes. you" :) In fact I always travel to some meetings ... (In Vienna it was the European Geosciences Union General Assembly, I was convening a session and started editing a special issue on its topic for an international journal; next year the same will be again in Vienna). kind regards Maria Link to comment
maria 7 Posted May 12, 2005 I forgot to write: I was also in 1992 in Vienna - what a coincidence :) Now around the 1st of May it seem like a fellow photo.net member, who commented one of my Lisbon photos, was there as well. The world is small. In 1992 I was on Silvester, with a church trip. My camera also went defect in Vienna last time, the difference is, now it happened on the last day, while back in 1992 it happened on the first day. I'll see if and when it happens next year ;) Maria Link to comment

maria 7 Posted May 13, 2005 thanks a lot - for the moment more in the Lisbon folder (I recall you wanted to see more of it, too?) enjoy! Maria Link to comment
maria 7 Posted May 13, 2005 Hi, thanks for revisiting and for the kind comment! regards Maria Link to comment
alexguerra 0 Posted May 13, 2005 Yes it looks like we where in Vienna in the same days and even in the same place, because I passed right in front of that Geosciences conference place (in Viena International Center) and noticed that, since I am myself working into geo sciences :-) Link to comment
maria 7 Posted May 13, 2005 Hi Alexandre, were you at the conference?!? I was convening NH9.06 "Natural Hazards Impact on Urban Areas and Infrastructure", as I graduated in architecture with focus on urban planning. What field of geosciences are you working in? great to hear this, kind regards Maria Link to comment
alexguerra 0 Posted May 13, 2005 I was not at the conference, I just passed outside while visiting the area and noticed the billboard at the door. I graduated in Forestry Engineering and now I'm working in Warsaw in remote sensing at the Geodesy and Cartography Institute. Cheers :-) Link to comment
maria 7 Posted May 13, 2005 Sounds like mobility ;) Am I right? Since I had my first Marie Curie fellowship I started to attend conferences where the name of the people looked like from a country, and their affiliation like from totally another :) cheers Maria Link to comment
