havanai 0 Posted May 11, 2005 Not sharp, cluttered background, awkward neck position... Link to comment
mikeseb 0 Posted May 12, 2005 ...too soft for my taste. But that is one shapely breast. If you were going for a soft-focus effect, just a bit less of that effect would work better I think. did I mention that that is one lovely breast? and neck? Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 12, 2005 Yes, it's a soft nude and I find it gracefull. The particular cropping (body in the side and large background) is fine to see. But I have to agree with other comments : there is a problem of focus... It's a pity, the composition could be wonderful with focus on the background I think and not on the skin (it's my own taste), I could increase softness of the photo. So my conclusion is : not TOO soft, and please try again ! Link to comment
rina 0 Posted May 12, 2005 Thanks for your critiques. I used a tripod. No shaky hand. I applied gaussian blur to the wall. A tad of USM for the skin and wrap. But I used the first time the "soft" modus of my camera. Will never do this again. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 12, 2005 By using the soft mode of the camera, you allow the camera to decide how the image should look. That is an aesthetic decision that you, as the photographer, should make. Link to comment
speysider 0 Posted May 12, 2005 I agree it is a bit soft, still a lovely image though, I like the concept as well. Have looked at your composition, and come to the conclusion that I would have cropped the image just below the shoulder to remove the neck bones and also just below the frill of the dress making a sort of letter box format shot of it. Not sure about the background, think it works better in letterbox format. Real good effort though! 5/6 John Link to comment
John Peri 1,032 Posted May 31, 2005 A very sensual photo. Excellent composition, though I may agree with those that suggest more sharpness? I have never used a tripod. Does it really make a difference? In reply to my own question, I guess it will allow for shorter shutter speeds..? Link to comment
rina 0 Posted June 1, 2005 Thanks for your comments. Yes, for low light condition I always use a tripod. Cannot do it without at 1/60 sec or less. Here the ambient window light was very poor. I used also a gold refector. Shutter speed was maybe 1/30 sec. Regarding sharpness as I explained I used first time the soft modus in my camera. Was not a good idea I guess.
