Sambucus (Elderberry)

From my first series of macro shots. I'm just amazed at what a

pleasure this lens is to work with, and hoping to learn its potential

as I journey into a new photographic niche. I wanted to capture this

bud "in context" rather than on a perfectly clean backdrop as this

more accurately depicts the plant's structure. It was just a question

of how much of the backdrop to keep in focus. I appreciate your

thoughts and critiques.

C.G., I think your DOF is spot on; I agree that some context is great in nature macros, but you want to de-emphasize it as you have (it's amazing how little DOF you get with this lens at f/13!). Colors are wonderful; neat shot!
