stevespencer 0 Posted May 10, 2005 Now why would someone rate this 3/3?? Of course they won't leave a comment, so we'll never know. This is, in my opinion, a stunning studio image of a stunning subject. Great use of light. The only things I would say as critical would be that I would like to see it razor sharp, and then retouch any imperfections in skin texture, etc. The skin highlights are almost too hot, but I think they are o.k., just under the wire. This is a great shot, and highly commendable use of studio lighting. Thank you for sharing it with us. -s Link to comment
isaac madera 1 Posted May 10, 2005 I really love the way the wood stands out in this shot. Nice job! Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted May 11, 2005 Just a little bit good Angel. Just a little bit good. Does she really play by the way? Link to comment
manel_soria 0 Posted May 11, 2005 Wouldn't it be better without cropping the instrument ? Ok, maybe we/you are not interested in Veronica as a player and you don't want to distract the attention but I think that maybe it would be better to present her as you with do with a musician. Link to comment
mondiani 0 Posted May 11, 2005 I agree with the previous comment... especially because it's the instrument that is in focus not the model. Link to comment
angel_pena 0 Posted May 11, 2005 Thank you for taking the time to comment on this ?unfinished? pic. To say the truth I am having trouble understanding the sharpness setting on my 20D? The camera (or the lens) is very very soft at the normal setting? Spencer: Don?t mind the ratings..too many kids playing on our park? I agree with you in the sharpness issue. Isaac, Jammin, Jan: Thanks ! Hugo: A comment by you is welcome with a smile. David: No she does not. But what a talent to stare at the camera uh? Manel, Mondiani: No ?cause this shot is about her. I?ll post your idea later on. The big part of the instrument is too big, dissimilar to her skinny body, that will attract too much attention..Thanks for your comments! Link to comment
manel_soria 0 Posted May 11, 2005 As I suspected you are not interested in her playing skills :) , but I think that as an exercise it would be interesting to photograph her as if she was a professional player. Or, With a little bit of imagination, a beautiful wooden instrument and a model I think you can do something different. The shape of the cello may help. Ok, its spring time.. Link to comment
stevespencer 0 Posted May 12, 2005 Try the unsharp mask in photoshop instead of upping the camera's sharpness settings. I am not familiar with the 20D's menus. I'm still using a D60 (and right now playing with an 'ancient' DCS 3c) Most think it is better to sharpen in post-processing. Best of all to work from a raw file format which gives you more leeway to alter things in post processing. -s Link to comment
