louise bridge 0 Posted May 3, 2005 Wow, Bill! You caught the "action" of the chess game perfectly in this shot and the vibrant colors of the boutique in the background contrast so well with the black winter-garbed chess-players. Still, it looks so-ooo Toronto-like it's amazing. I would not have guessed Ithaca for this because there were identical tables in a park at the east end of the Prince Edward VII Viaduct near where I live in Toronto. But, because not all users of the tables were playing chess quietly, but rather were interacting seated at the tables in the course of all sorts of outdoor table-using activities, the tables were removed and never replaced several years ago. Instead, now the park has only immovable benches forever permanently positioned for sitting side-by-side and staring t.v.-like at the traffic going by. I think that identical tables remain though on Gould Street outside Sam the Record Man store, continually hosting complex outdoor chess tournaments in all weathers. Glad to see there are other identical tables in use elsewhere. Link to comment
camilla 5 Posted May 4, 2005 Very good! A lot going on in the foreground, an interesting, colourful background, and very "graphic" with the black and white contrasting with the background. Link to comment
