atle.g 0 Posted May 3, 2005 Wonder if u find this crop work better than the original? NB! in bit shure the beams are this yellow on the original. Link to comment
kevinfoster 0 Posted May 3, 2005 i think the aspect ratio is much improved with the new crop - it gives the picture a more dynamic feeling to my eye; it's more balanced this way than the original. nice shot! Link to comment
treeffe 0 Posted May 3, 2005 This crop give a real diagonal view improving the reading of image. The rays flowing in the (lake? fiord?) are great. Congrats is a great image. Fabio Link to comment
jeremy freeland 0 Posted May 4, 2005 I agree that the cropped frame is the stronger composition, with a better emphasis on diagonals, and a better positioning of the left hand sheep and left edge horizon at equal 1/3 intervals in the frame. I also think that image benefits from losing the grass in the left foreground in the original. I was initially concerned that the very bright sunlight would overwhelm the image, but the detail and blues at the right of the frame balance this out well. The golds of the trees on the far bank of the fjord are an added bonus, and help add balance. Best, Jeremy. Link to comment
atle.g 0 Posted May 6, 2005 Thanks for the inputs!! Might be going for this version. And jeremy the gold on the right side does add to the balance..but that wasnt in my mind when i shot this :-) In fact i was very focused on the extremly bright beams that needed a lot of grads to get under control.. in fact i blew several shots. Was also using my 70-300 zoom. but without IF its more or less hopless to use that lens with GND's. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted May 7, 2005 That's quite a shot. I would be delighted to have taken it. I like the crop. The definition of the beams is great. It's one of those shots where getting it is sufficient, and if you happen to get a half passable rest of the image it's a bonus. You've certainly made the most of his opportunity. Link to comment
audrey lee reid 0 Posted May 9, 2005 Yes, I like your cropped version the best as well Atle. The tranquil composition and shades of colour AND that light beam all pull together to make this a lovely image. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted May 11, 2005 The composition of this shot is very pleasent to me, both for the soothing green in the foreground and its arrangement along the this large diagonal portion of the scene: it makes even more unique the effect of the sun rays. I prefer this version to the cropped one: the rays occupy less space and we see more of the "ordinary" world: it is the contrast between these two worlds which make the rays even more unique. Was I to chose a single thing which I like the most, will be the fog to the right, the one which is less lit. Was I to chose one thing to wish was not there, this would be the waves from boat motion: it contrasts with the quiet of the animals...wish there was no sign of motion at all. Link to comment
vuyisich 0 Posted June 5, 2005 I like the composition and colors very much. The highlights are a bit overblown, but there was nothing you could do about that. Thanks for posting. Link to comment
