maria 7 Posted April 28, 2005 Hi, this is a 'selection' of the Lisbon 'skyline' so to say, looking towards the Alfama district. Please write your comments. Thank you for looking! Maria Link to comment
derekwin 0 Posted April 28, 2005 Hi. From this level each individual building competes for focus. My eye keeps going from the plane to the very interesting dome to the beautiful church wondering where I should stop and then there is a great sky. Seems a bit dark. Anyway, keep shooting :) Link to comment
maria 7 Posted April 29, 2005 Hi Derek, thanks a lot for the comment. I renounced to do autolevels for this picture, as the colour of the sky resulted strange (see attached). I am actually keeping scanning slides right now ;) - some of them are years old. Strange how from a whole film I can chose a bunch of slides worth scanning (ex. for Lisbon 18 out of 3 films), and then from the scanned ones again only a bunch worth looking at digitally ... :( regards Maria Link to comment
derekwin 0 Posted April 29, 2005 I like the modified one better and you can kind of see the blue in the sky in the original. :) Yeah I tried to go back to some of my old photos to realize the cd I had them on was corrupted. :( Maybe digital isn't such an advance after all. :) Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted April 30, 2005 Hello Maria, I haven't been to Lisbon since I was about 15, this reminds me of how lovely it is. If you want to adjust the colours and levels on the buildings, without any colour correction on the sky, you could try the "magnetic lasso" on photoshop and select only the buildings. I agree that the sky is excellent. Best wishes Peter Link to comment
maria 7 Posted May 5, 2005 Hi Peter, thanks for the kind comment and the suggestion. Will apply it as soon as I have a little bit more time and let you know! I am glad you like the sky :) In Lisbon, there was no "azur" sea, but it looks like the sky took over the role ;) Since you are missing Lisbon, above a photo taken from the same location, but looking down (seems to be my favourite angle of view anyway; I've posted this photo with the intent to change ...) to Alfama, and river Tejo. Hope you like it. In the meantime, I've just uploaded for critique another Lisbon city place (same folder). kind regards Maria Link to comment
snowalker 0 Posted May 6, 2005 What is great is its chaotic nature, whilst still being made up of very regular straight lines and squares. Everything is packed so tightly together, it looks more like a theater set than a real city. Also, the buildings have been perfectly arranged to give us a circle, with the large buildings in back, the smaller ones in front getting smaller towards the middle (like a group photo of people) Link to comment
