Jim_Dockery_Photos 2 Posted April 27, 2005 Perfect day in the Wasatch for the Little Cottonwood-Bells ski tour. I metered off the sky. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted April 27, 2005 At first sight (and unfortunatly some of the rating of those who've most likely never suffered the cold on a mountain testify it) it might appear as a strange picture where the main subject is in the shadow.Filtering the shot trhough the feelings of being in these places (a thread on being there/shooting to tell it is going on here), it becomes truly enjoyable. The foreground skier represents the (miserable ?) feeling to be in the cold and in the shadow, his progression is marked by the traces, the rest of the party is already on the ridge, and the sun which will gorgeously shine is announced by the rocks at the horizon. On a compositional point of view, I like the relative large amount of foreground, which pops even more the mountains out, and stresses the point of man being just a mere (sometime unwelcome) guest in this environment.A beautiful picture, for those who want to stop to read it.
