Hi everybody,

A narrow medieval street in Andalucia.

I tried to concentrate on the zen view kind perspective and cut the

uninteresting bottom.

Please tell me what you think.

thank you

Maria

... to be honest I was unsure about this photo, but it was the one from Spain I liked most.

Hi Sam,

thanks for the question.

"Zen view" is a pattern in in Christopher Alexander's "Pattern Language", and has its origins in a Japanese house named so, Alexander wrote.

While "A Pattern Language" by Christopher Alexander is a book rather for architects and related professions (urban planning, sociology of architecture etc), I saw it on the list of preferred books by Phil Greenspun :) :

Books that I like

[yes, the Phil Greenspun who started photo.net]. I added to links to that page but did not add any comment on the book so far, although I read it many times.

Summarised it is about a narrow view to something beautiful. In the original it means not to put large windows in places "where people stay" (Alexander) to look at something beautiful, but to put such windows at "places of transition" (Alexander): stairs, paths etc.

I found that it well suits the medieval, where the city is perceived essentially in movement, 4D so to say, and where around the cathedrals especially there wasn't place left to look at them like today at the Notre Dame in Paris ...

I love your pictures of Andalucia as well, Sam!

Thanks again for the comment.

now there are :)

Anyway, I am surprised about the popularity and positive feedback to this image - maybe it is because of the title ;)

It isn't one of my favourites, it is just the one I liked the most from my Spain photos ...
