maria 7 Posted April 19, 2005 I recall that from the old photos, which I had pre 2003 in my portofolio, the ones made with the installation to an architecture-scenographic assessment were the ones liked most. So I thought to try again. The story behind: each student had to design the door to a specific space, and build it 1:1 scale. This is the one I've chosen. I made pictures of it "day" and "night", but this "night" picture I like most. Link to comment
beebe 0 Posted April 19, 2005 Your use of color here is very effective. I also like how the shadows draw me into the bright orange. The focus also helps to create a mysterious effect. I am more drawn to this image then your others because it has a mysterious element, strong compositional components, bold use of color. Your cityscapes reveal the cities in very literal fashion. They do not tell me much new about the cities and very little about you as an artist. John Link to comment
maria 7 Posted April 19, 2005 Hi John, thank you for the kind comment. Well, even this one is a literary representation of the subject; the only difference is, that in this case I designed the subject as well and is thus unique :) I also think that in photography one shall adopt a similar attitude as in contextual architecture. If the subject is great, then the own amount of "innovation" shall be minimal - there is a great example by a building of a renowned Romanian architect near a historic church: the building is very simple, rectangular windows, arrayed, on a white wall, in order not to compete with the image of the church. Other architect would have chosen to exhibit his skills in facade and volumetry design ... Innovative approaches are rather suitable for the mundane, IMHO. Link to comment
nicholasprice 0 Posted April 22, 2005 Hello Maria. I love this! It is the kind of abstract and artistic photograph, that most people dismiss, but I find beautiful. It is simple, but also so complex, and can be understood, and enjoyed on a variety of levels. The colours are warm, and the lines and shadows are strong and dramatic. The more one looks at the image, the more one sees! Best wishes, Nick. Link to comment
maria 7 Posted April 24, 2005 Thanks Nick for the comment. I am really glad you like it! I thought I had a good idea how to get comments from people who rate low - so 'cos I had the chance to see who gave the 2/2 s I requested the EMail address of one of them and wrote precisely kindly asking to provide a comment about what was disliked. I got no answer :( best regards Maria Link to comment

maria 7 Posted September 28, 2005 Hi Jana, hi everybody, sorry for being silent so long; I am travelling. After the 5th of October I will have more time. I have picked up last week the scans in higher resolution (negative scans) from the photos of these series and will upload them then. I will also pay you back a visit to your portofolio then. kind regards and thank for the comment Maria Link to comment
maria 7 Posted February 19, 2006 Dear all, I have uploaded a sharper scan from the film (negative) as compared to the print. Unfortunately since no help from fellow photographers with Photoshop, the "degradee" is not so good ... I will be uploading some more photos from the serie s very soon. cya Maria Link to comment
