ivar olsen 0 Posted April 21, 2005 I like these B&W/toned from you! In this one IMHO... I think you lack the superb sharpness around the blades (are they called that..?) Darn nice with the lit through though! ;-)) see you! Ivar :-) Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted April 21, 2005 Ivar: I agree, my focus is dead on, but the dof is too shallow. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted April 26, 2005 While I echo Ivar's assessment about the sharpness, I do like the photo (especially since I have a fondness for toned florals). The backlighting is nice, as is your choice of not shoving the center of the flower in the upper right corner (my inclination on this type of shot). There's a little tiny bit of black and a white area in the upper left corner which I'd either fix by cloning or just crop out. Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted April 26, 2005 Robert, I so knew you were going to say something about that black spot! Subconsciously, that might be one of the reasons I left it in. Thanks for your other comments too. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 29, 2005 Aaron, you seem to have a knack for these b&w florals. I agree with Bob's comments. The backlighting creates a beautiful quality of light. I don't know if you used a reflector but the light bouncing into the center of the flower really elevates this one. (Typically, when I see backlit flowers. The center is lost in silhouette or too dark to appreciate the detail.) I too find the dark area in the upper left a little distracting. I can understand your subconcious decision to leave it in. AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted April 29, 2005 Laurie, thanks for taking a look. There is a revision in the works. The core was lit with a pen light. Ain't black and white great... no color casts to deal with! Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted February 26, 2006 I loved looking through your portolio, and when I came across this, I just had to comment! I love the way you've lit the center...especially since you've given away that you used a pen light...I'll have to remember that one. As for the sharpness of the petals, I understand that point of view, but as they are, they have a fluid, silken quality to them. Really lovely. Leslie Link to comment
cynthialeemaris 0 Posted June 24, 2006 Another beautiful photo. I love the transparency of the petals giving it an ethereal glow. Peace, C. Link to comment
