sjerose 0 Posted April 19, 2005 This is amazing! I found it so difficult to get a good shot of the tholos, and here you are getting up in the wee hours of the morn getting such an amazing shot. Looks a little different from May 2004, but I feel like I'm there again when I see this pic. Thanks so much! (I heard speculation that it was actually dedicated to Aphrodite, myself...) derekwin 0 Posted April 20, 2005 looks good. I like the overall effect but I can't help but think it could have another element. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted April 22, 2005 Derek, thanks for stopping by . . . Susan, I did arrive in the wee hours of the morn--and after a very long flight followed by a few beverages in a taverna. I was lucky: the caretaker of this part of the site let me in about two hours before official opening hours, so I had the place to myself. I don't think my brain had quite gotten accustomed to Greek time and I was actually pretty disappointed at what I shot. This was probably the best of the group. Greece is a wonderful country--I only wish I had more time there!!! Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted April 24, 2005 This is really carefully framed, and I like the result you've gotten: the ruins are still imponent notwithstanding the decay. I guess this must be due to the strong backlighting which make even the small pieces of columns project suche a shadow as they would have when they were all the way up, and the way the tight crop from above makes the three standing columns still towering above the overall scene. At any rate, I like it. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted May 6, 2005 Salvatore, thanks for your comment. While I like this one fairly well, I wasn't able to get the shot here I'd hoped for. Fortunately, having an hour or two alone with the ruins was better than coming back with a great photo! Link to comment
