Good to see you back Walter. :-)) Nice flower, good asthetics, excellent use of side lighting for textures, but rather plain looking.

Speaking about flowers, do you know a good place to shoot Dogwoods in Cuyahoga Valley National Park? or Metro parks? I would love to do some colr and B/W with Dogwood blooms this spring.

Thanks Jay! Hmmm...Dogwoods in Ohio; that's a hard one. If memory serves, I thought I saw a few isolated stands in the Brecksville Reservation, I think the area referred to as the Meadows. The problem with the native Dogwood (Cornus florida) is that they are being killed off by a fungus infection know as anthracnose that came out of British Columbia and the Vancouver area in the mid 1970's. I have a few young trees in my backyard that have started to show the symptoms. I hope I can get them to recover but it does not seem very hopeful. The Dogwoods and the White Paper Birch are my favorite trees. Thanks again for stopping by. Regards.

I always find flowers a tough call - no two are alike, nor is a particular lighting situation or composition. With this one, you've captured the detail and lighting wonderfully - though "plain," as it IS "just another flower," it is undeniably gorgeous. The sample is flawless from where I sit (very, very important), the background isolating.

I couldn't have done this, that's for sure. My girlfriend would love it, she collects floral images for her bedroom and bathroom.

I love this one, Walter. Sharp, with nice lighting. No blown out spots in the yellow that I can see. Simple and effective.

Very nice. At a quick glance, it is a flower shot, and there are plenty of those around. But this one is much more than that. I particularly like how the background works here to make this image of shape, form and color. You have taken the floral image to the next level. Congrats Walter. Regards. Bob

Excellent tones and exposure. Great colors sharp and detailed. IMHO if the flower was framed a little off center it would have looked more pleasing aesthetically.

Anyway looks great as it is too. Nice PS work.

Kind regards.

Superb detail and colour and a good background. I am a bit ambivalent about the formal placing of the flower in the middle but it certainly makes an impact like that!
