r_e 0 Posted April 17, 2005 CR: Nice, indeed! An example of good taste. Good to spread the theme a little, so we get a light character too. REgards Link to comment
mspanakis 0 Posted April 17, 2005 Nice anti-stress photo. I like the harmony of colors and the way the blossoms stand out from the background, like flying in a brown sky Link to comment
tutte 0 Posted April 18, 2005 You have definitely captured the Japanese essence. The buds look like they are made out of silk. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 18, 2005 Reiner, what do you mean by " spreading the theme"? Tutte, yes, I as well thought that they look like silk.... Manolis, Anti-stress... what a nice definition... Thanks Zuhal and Matthew for writing and not only rating...... Pnina Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted April 18, 2005 I like this very much. To me, the bright red signafies warmth & passion. It contrast very well with the background. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted April 18, 2005 Well chosen DOF. The left side is a little busy, but not so much as to detract because of the two balancing sides of brilliant red. I like that one side has bloomed, while the other side is still in bud. Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted April 19, 2005 Very nice shallow d.o.f., Pnina. The red is really intense. Kim has a point about the focus on left flower, but all in all, it doesn't take away much from the overall result. Thanks for sharing Japan with us. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 19, 2005 Thanks to all of you! Kim, I agree about the lower side but didnot want to give up the open flower. Wilson, I loved my visit in Japan, getting to know that culture that I liked a lot from reading. Link to comment
alexandra rauh 0 Posted April 19, 2005 Another beautiful blossom.the red very intense. Link to comment

kim_tural 0 Posted April 19, 2005 A very pretty composition. The reds are so rich against the beautiful bright and then fading to dark background. Link to comment

paula grenside 0 Posted April 20, 2005 Excellent DOF for this coral red blossoms. Definitely you capture the Japanese feel; I can't explain it but sense it, maybe because I like Japanese Art and find so much in your photos. Link to comment
jeremy freeland 0 Posted April 20, 2005 Colors are great, but I particularly like the closed buds and open flower and, because the buds and flower are in a different stage of development, don't think it's inappropriate that one of them is not sharply in focus. I haven't figured it out, but there's something about using DOF to blur what otherwise could be in focus in these bloom shots that seems to push at a stronger theme than a classicly crisp macro shot - maybe it draws more attention to the temporariness of the bloom and the cycles and regeneration of spring, as with the transition from blooms to leaves on these blossoming trees. Best, Jeremy. Link to comment
chips2 0 Posted April 21, 2005 They are so beautiful in red ...! Thank you for bring it all the from Japan to PN . Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted April 21, 2005 I like the mix of vibrant reds and the more subtle shades of the branch and background. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 21, 2005 Colin, Welcome back and thanks for all your comments! Jeremy,Thanks for your nice interpretation. What I liked is the two stages of development on one stem.I think that a neutral dof helps to accentuate the details and colors of the flower, but sometime hints of background can add a lot.
