justpete 0 Posted April 17, 2005 Caught this out of the corner of my eye as I walked past, stopped, noticed how the bookcases seemed to frame the children and parent. Turned away to make some adjustments and not distract them but when I turned back around I was lucky enough to see the scene had changed to this. Thought it was pretty self-explanatory and fit with the the RIF riff. Cropped to remove empty area betwen bottom of coposition and bottom of original frame. Don't think they ever noticed I was there. Was a nice thing to see. If there's anything that could've been done been better in editing/cropping, I could use all the pointers I can get. TIA. Link to comment
Pa-cha 0 Posted April 21, 2005 I like this image : it's a little part of life and that's why its a great shot. Sincerely. Pascal Link to comment
justpete 0 Posted April 22, 2005 Pascal, very kind, thanks for the encouragement. I was afraid that this one would end up in the garbage can 'cuz it looks so dull and boring at first. I wondered if anyone would get the not-quite-so-still-life vibe the kids give off, as if they've been this still for only a fraction of time. Saw 'em as blurred swirls around dad as he searched for his books while watching over his kids. Link to comment
wingell 0 Posted October 16, 2006 A nice scene--nicely seen! I would expose for more detail, but the composition works and the subject is wonderful. 5/6 Link to comment
justpete 0 Posted October 16, 2006 Bill, You're right, the image appears underexposed. Early on I didn't know about sRGB. The scanner s/w defaulted to ColorSync producing uniformly dark images. Now that I've figured all that out, I would take care of the slight rotation error and replace the image with one appearing more properly exposed. If I do, I'll note here that the image has been replaced. Thanks for the kind words on the composition, I got lucky walking thru the bookstore. Link to comment
