tim_syth 0 Posted April 14, 2005 Try cropping the 3 yellow lights on the top of the image (crop down to the lights over the tables). I don't think the yellows are adding much and the top 1/4 of the image is dead space compared to the shapes and forms of the tables and their lights. Other than that, I really like this photo. Mike Marcotte 50,147 Posted April 15, 2005 I Knew it!. I was going to leave those out but didn't. I think you're right Tim. Link to comment
root 0 Posted April 15, 2005 very clever, but I'd get rid of the top three lights. . . . maybe add an eight ball on the front table . . Link to comment
haleh b 0 Posted April 15, 2005 Since the theme of your image seems to be the emphasis on green I think it would have been best to eliminate the lights on the ceiling. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted April 16, 2005 Another vote against the lights on the ceilings. Actually, if you have acecss to the area again, a shot which points slightly more downwards so that the first table is more in the frame might also pay off. I think the idea of putting some balls on the foreground table, or maybe to the one to the top-left of it, is great, but I'd go for some colour... maybe the full starting-triangle? Link to comment
jos www.inpix.biz 0 Posted April 16, 2005 Yeah 'bout the lights, this has a great feel to it! Guess it shows I love the game. Strong sense of depth and Carl's idea of an 8 ball is excellent, maybe on the middle table. Love this shot!! Link to comment
tholte 16,718 Posted April 16, 2005 Mike, I hope you keep doing more of these pool hall shots because they are good. Are these tables ever used all at the same time? Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 50,147 Posted April 17, 2005 Yes Tim, this was a pool tournament that lasted 4 days. On my first trip [without camera equipment] they were almost all in use. I came back the next day & it was about finished. Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 50,147 Posted April 17, 2005 Thanks Jos, next time I'll try to get there early for more action. Ive got a year to think about it. Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted May 15, 2008 Mike, I gotta say...you have done a great job with this series...I for one will wait patiently for next years results... I feel the lights give me a sense of place and I feel they do not take away from this full frame beauty... With out the "Three Amigos" on that ceiling it would makes this image look as though it was computer generated..nothing wrong with that mind you...but this is a film shot... That knucklehead standing in the middle of your shot....let me guess his name is...Cueball? Fantastic images....Juan Link to comment
