This downy is an aspiring track and field athelete who wanted some

action shots. This is one of the better from our session yesterday.

Your thoughts and critiques are apreciated.

Excellent - a little pole-vaulter:)

I've never seen one engaged in behavior like this, on such a small branch. Are there insects on that tree/bush?

No insects, it was just a freak thing. She was hovering trying to get to the suet cake about 12" above. Unfortunately there was another bird (her boyfriend) on the cake. Eventually she must have wanted a rest or something, so clung to this branch, not realizing it was so thin. I just happened to have the lens pointed at the right place at the right time.

Ahhhh. Yes, they love the suet. Sadly, the starlings apprently do too, so my woodpeckers are getting gipped.

That's a girl-downy, too, by the way. You can tell as there's no red stripe on the top of her head, as her boyfriend has.
