Question? Anyone but me having problems with the colors and saturations on uploads on PN the last week or so?

Anyway...... My first lighting class assignment as most of you know. The mission: "Create a protrait using a white background. The background should be evenly lit and the subject should literally jump off the page at you." I don't know about jumping, but I love this little face!

Wow! Jayme, you nailed this one. Got to view it larger to do it justice. Seems your investment on the camera and Alien Bees really is paying off. I'm sure you're enjoying yourself. ^_^

BTW, skin tones are the hardest to control and you'll only know if the prints are just as good. I'm constantly learning about color profiles, sRGB, RAW's RGB and color adjustments.

I like the lighting and tones in this one over the other post of this cookie monster. It seems more even and pleasing.

Kim- both were taken at the very same time. I'm just getting the hang of this RAW image processing. I had a tendency to push up the exposure when all I needed was to increase the brightness a little. I'm learning. Now if I could just get the kids to cooperate better. It's like pulling teeth. I was indeed held hostage for cookies! No joke!

Kids have to be the hardest to photograph. I did better with my niece, Kelley, who just turned 14 and obviously practices posing in the mirror.

Class assignment: Well lit white background where the subject leaps

off the page. Comments & critiques welcome as always.

I use to have some problems with color changes on uploads. It's been a while, and it wasn't here on PN [so, your problem may be totally unrelated], but the issue stemmed from the color settings I was using in PS. If I weren't so old and forgetful, I'd be able to tell you more, but I believe that I changed the color setting under preferences to Web Graphics Default - sRGB IEC61966-2.1, then made sure I was working in RGB and the problem went away. Since I live on the Internet, printing has not been an issue for me, but I'm sure you'll need to work in Lab Color or CMYK for anything you want to print. Hope this is of some use to you? :)

Thanks Don, I think you are exactly right. I did a little research and this was the problem. So I am correcting my mistakes! Also getting old, I think I went through this a while back and had the same problem with the same solution! It's hell getting old!

Great expression with good composition. A plain white background works great here as it gives an air of innocence to this seemingly mischievious youngster. FUN. ^_^

A well-done portrait gallery. This is my favorite -- nicely composed, and you coached your model perfectly.

NO coaching Chris. He held me hostage, not cookies, no pictures. We made the cookies & I left him in the kitchen to eat, I went to set up, when he returned, he had chocolate all over his face. I asked "You didn't eat ALL the cookies did you?" And this was the answer I got! :)

That story is too good to be true! You should have included it in the information with the original post! ;-)

Chris- I swear it's true :) This is our oldest grandson, Jake & I was taking a children's photography class at the time, so he literally WAS holding me hostage :) I needed a hi-key white seamless image & he was being opstinent (as usual) No cookies, no photo, I was basically at his mercy:) Gotta love him though, first grandchildren have a special place in their grandmother's hearts :)
