Very compelling. My first thoughts took me down the 'La Separation' route, kind of obvious, but interesting never-the-less. Then, for some reason, I started thinking... 'Nope, its not that, at all'. Now I'm thinking, two parents who have just lost their child, gradually drifting apart as they deal with their grief in different ways. There's something, delicate, respectful, about the distance between them. He wants to get closer, hold her hand in comfort, but she's not letting him. Maybe she blames him? Maybe, after a few more visits here, he'll be sitting on the nearest post, instead of the middle, as they come closer and closer to divorce... just my interpretation, of course.

Her hair was confusing me... of course her dress might have given me a clue... I thought it was a man holding a suit jacket in his lap... too busy looking at the whole image rather than the details.

Excellent shot. I love the tone in this...the DOF, Comp, and the seen. Excellent job. What gets me about this shot is the seperation.

Well, just my take on photography in general, a picture should tell a story, that is all anyone with a camera was ever ment to do, and this one does an excellent job of mixing visually pleasing to the eye with an open story, i really like this, there was a comment earlier that there really should be a 10... if there was it would be all yours, great job, 7/7

Good except for tone & contrast! I made some minor tone and contrast corrections in photoshop. My fixes really put the emphasis on the subjects. In the original picture the detail was lost in too dark shade and tone. I hope Jean-Sebastien Monzani likes my corrections. I like her photo very much. It tells a story. The viewer can put their own meaning to it. I am sure this brings many people back to sweet memories in their youth. I gave it a warmer tone also. This softens the young woman and man and creates a softer warmer feeling like an old photo. Please open up my attachment and see if you agree. Thank you!

Thank you. Actually, contrast and luminosity are very monitor dependent, but I was at least looking for a low-key effect :)

By the way, even if this image is featured today on photo.net front page, it is far from being my favourite.

Cheers

Nice picture Jean, I'm a real newbie to this but I disagree with Vicky's comments about the original, I think the lower key evokes an impression of reluctance on the part of the subjects to quit the scene, that seems to fit in with your title better.

At first I thought it was a prop for a stage show,

then I realized it is something like a look-out

or more likely a "board walk". Yes,places like this

are nice place to be with.

I just wonder where is this place and I am also

interested of it's lenght.
