maria 7 Posted April 8, 2005 Lipscani street constitutes the historic core of Bucharest, Romania. It bears the name from Lipsca, the Romanian name for Leipzig, Germany, as traders from Lipscani came there. Characteristic are narrow fronts. For the city itself, not this architecture is most characteristic, but rather that of the interwar time. Link to comment
nicholasprice 0 Posted April 9, 2005 Hello Maria. This image is newsy, and your discriptio adds greatly to it's impact. Although many may feel that you have captured the mundane, clearly this photograph is an important social document. Sometimes we forget that we live in important times. Regards, Nick. Link to comment
maria 7 Posted May 5, 2005 Hi Nick, thanks for your comment.I will try (again, tried once in 2003 also) to prepare a travel guide for Bucharest, and thus selected from my slide to scan those which represent the 'classical' places. The historic core belongs to them.I have just uploaded one such narrow facade building on Lipscani, you might want to take a look at this photo from the folderIn the meantime, above the interio court and passage of a "han" (kind of hotel) to be found on the left side of this street [better image than that I had].kind regardsMaria Link to comment
maria 7 Posted May 5, 2005 And finally something having to do with the initial picture: the colour filtering (in colder, less yellow I mean, but more depth). Link to comment
