michaelx 0 Posted April 6, 2005 Elegant tones. Soft focus works well. Has a nice retro feel. Link to comment
foxfire 0 Posted April 7, 2005 Very Nice. Maybe just a tad more light reflected onto her face. Love that Portra film.... Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted April 8, 2005 I like it, too, maybe because it's unconventional. I'm wishing for a little more softness in the angle of her left arm, but it's in enough shadow that it doesn't bother me too much. I especially like the light on her neck and throat, and I like the subtlety of your title. Not sure about the soft focus with that particular shirt. Seems the details in the shirt would be best served by sharpness, but, on the other hand, it subdues the shirt, which is bright, and makes it less distracting from the other parts, so I think the softness is a good thing. dougityb 0 Posted April 8, 2005 --Just looked at red hat III and I was right: the sharp focus on that shot causes the shirt to take over. So, this is my favorite of the red hat shots. Link to comment

jayme 0 Posted June 22, 2005 Michael- This is beautiful. The model is lovely and the outfit is wonderful. Besides all this, this light is perfectly placed and I love the soft focus. I'm trying to figure out the lighting. One light, right? 45 degrees to the subject's right? Placed low aimed at her upper left shoulder. A snoot? barndoors? and/or flags? to stop the light at the shoulder and block off the face. This looks like a complicated set up, but one that paid off well. I love the way the face and both hands & arms are lightly lit, while the blouse and neck are strongly lit and soft highlights in the hair & hat are a gentle touch. It seems to me this is made even more difficult because the blouse is white. The softness is super too. Was this accomplished with a filter on the camera? This is truly stunning. I'd love to know the details. Thanks for sharing this one! Link to comment
raddatzphoto 0 Posted June 23, 2005 Jayme this is a 1 second exposure done with natural light, in a dark room. The main light (south window) is 10 ft away and sun not falling directly on her, but merely ambient light. Her face is lit with north window @20ft, cool light. +Warm/Soft filter. : > ) Link to comment
