Pulok, Really a stunning documentary shot, it just lacks the background story (but this could be added by you)... why were they walking following rails? The misty atmosphere is really nice and i like the way the railroad moves left and disappear behind the bushes. It almost squares the image, while leaving it landscape.

jean luc lery, Julio Segura Carmona, Reeves Dk., giuseppe miriello for your appreciation and beautiful comments.

giuseppe: Thank you for such a nice criticism.

So here is the background story: Myself alongwith my eleven friends went for a terkking during feb' 05. We chose a place called "Green route (because of the dense green forest in which it is situated)" which is actually an abandoned railway track. The stretch of this track with length about 52+kms has around 50+ tunnels and bridges with length varying from few meters to 0.5km & height varying from few meters to few hundred meters and numerous streams en route. This is one of the most picturesque spot (route) in the Western Ghats of the South Karnataka, India. It took for us two days to complete the trekking and it was really a great fun. Here are the details about the track - http://www.dreamroutes.org/western/edakumeri.html

Kind regards...

Really good shot. It tells a story ( was glad to read its background story though). Good crop and effective misty background: trekking to a misty place.

An interesting image that stirs one's imagination. Beautiful misty mood with the rail disppearing into the mist, enveloping the people as well.

Great misty atmosphere and a timless shot. We have lots of trails from defunct railways as well. They are used as bicycle and walking paths in the summer and snowmobile trails in the winter. Some of them are even paved! This looks like a well worn path. I'm guessing that you slept under the stars. . .

Pulok,

Absolutely superb take. Love the depth of the photo created by placing the curvature from the front to the diagonal. Beautiful tonal range with dark blacks through misty grays to full whites. You have placed the people also quite optimally across the field.

Paula Grenside, Paul Greenwood, cherlyn ., Kim TuralAnimesh Ray for your appreciation and beautiful comments.

Paul: Your assumption is right; there has been conversion of the track to broad gauge from meter gauge and so those concrete railway ties.

Kim: You are also right; we slept under the stars for one whole night (of course we had sleeping bags).

Hello Pulok.

Great image. A long walk, but to where? The mist give great move, perhaps refugees fleeing, or pilgrims to a temple!

Superb - 6/6

Regards, Nick.

This one immediately caught my attention. I like the mist in the background and the way the tracks lead your eyes along the people walking.

This is a very moody image. The effect of the mist to grey out the scene as your eye follows the slightly curving path is very nice. I like the shades of grey that the trees become in the mist.

Pulok, great mood, lighting, and composition. I like how you're left to wonder what's around the corner. Reminds me of when I was little and used to walk on the train tracks on my way home from school. Regards. Denise

Pulok, very well composed. The light in this foggy atmospher is well exposed. Good FG in a semi circular direction, till the vanishing point. Well observed and executed.
