While searching for a title I thought of the metamorphosis of the

mind, from earth-centered awareness to cosmic conciousness. Hence the

title.

It is my sincere hope that others draw inspiration, enjoyment and an

appreciation of the power of abstract images to fuel the immagination

from my work with smoke.

Thank you for taking the time to view these images.

I always love the smoke and fire shots. How did you set up the shot initially with the PSP9 editing. What kind of light and from which angle? what was the original background? what speeds and ISO work best and is that with flash or not? e-mail me as I want to try my own and need a start point

Please see: How I Get The Colors

This will explain the set-up used.

Exposure is highly variable and is why I use a digital camera, and shoot around 150 frames at a time. I would suggest ISO 200 at f:8 as a starting point, IF you use an equivalent strobe. However, smoke is nearly impossible to meter, making trial-and-error the only truly workable method of getting the exposure right.

The PSP9 background is created using the Sculpture texture tool and a copy of the smoke shot is added as a layer using the Screen mode.
