I like it better in color.

Emmanouil, I like the B&W better. IMHO, to improve the B&W image, I would reduce the sharpness overall and use a mask to sharpen the children separately from the concrete and background. The oversharpening of the concrete steps and background trees draws attention form the main subjects. A slight reduction of the contrast may also help. The composition and look on the children's faces really make this image.
