drybrain 0 Posted March 27, 2005 a crisp and clear statement. may be needs a bit less of empty sky for my taste, but very well done! Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 50,320 Posted March 27, 2005 Thanks Naftali, maybe a few clouds would've helped. Link to comment
mmmee 0 Posted March 28, 2005 In looking at the simplicity of this shot, I think less is better. Perhaps just the building and the road with its telephone posts leading the eye over the hill and making me wonder what is on the other side. But I know what is there... the road just goes on and on, straight and simple, past more lonely looking buildings. Actually, this one looks like it may have been an old schoolhouse once. There is not much I would change on this one. Happy Easter, CC. and I like your post in that no words forum too. Link to comment
apotheker 0 Posted March 28, 2005 For me there is a true feel of "Americana" captured here. ("Hopper-esque"). The tonality, flatness, spatial relationships, volumne & emptyness all make it work for me. Link to comment
dberryhill 3 Posted March 31, 2005 At first I thought odd composition with all the action on the right side, and a nearly blank sky. But the more I've gazed, the more I find it speaking the love and attachment of the photographer for rural America, and saying it beautifully. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted June 17, 2005 I like the asymmetry of this scene and I actually think the blank sky contributes to the feeling of space and emptiness, as do the muted colours. I think even more foreground would increase the depth and perspective and the endless horizon. It reminds me of those long drives across the Canadian Prairies. Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 50,320 Posted June 19, 2005 That's an interesting thought, maybe more foreground would have made this more interesting. I may try again with a different lens. As for the Canadien prairies,....one of these days.... Link to comment
evb 0 Posted February 10, 2007 I've been enjoying your portfolio, particularly the rural shots, and this one really stood out for me. It's the combination of the starkly simple barn and line of utility poles against the richness of the field that really makes this image speak. Nice eye. Link to comment
