msoskil 0 Posted March 26, 2005 This is an image from my first paid shoot in October. Crits/Comments are welcome, as always. Thanks. Link to comment
d2f 0 Posted March 29, 2005 It's perfect now change it. The father needs to match his clothing to the son's, the pants are already there, the tops have to match better. Then improve the father's stance by having him sit up straight. Watch the father's left knee in the image, by bringing the left leg out with the right. And crop in slightly on the left hand side to get the father and son off the center line of the image. This can be done by turning the camera to the right a little. The right elbow and the right foot of the father should be in the frame and with equal distance to the edge of the frame. on either side. Also use a wider f/stop to put the background slightly more out of focus. Finally use a weak fill flash to open up the eyes and add a little sparkle to them. All in all a good image. Link to comment
msoskil 0 Posted March 29, 2005 Thanks, Don. I appreciate the tips. I'm certainly no expert on portraits, and your comments helped. I did shoot at f2.8 which was as open as I could shoot w/ my equipment. I could have used a 50mm 1.8 I guess, but thought the 100mm was a better option. Link to comment
