Nice one, very cute boy with a totally charming smile:) And I like the almost-high key!

This is Ethan, the 2 year old, playing with Buzz Lightyear, the bubble maker. He has bubble soap in his hair from popped bubbles! He loves both Buzz and Bubbles!

Nice one. However, I would like to see more the bubble. It is too much lost in the backdround IMO. I guess that to see it, you would have needed to shot it against a dark background. But the expression in the face of the boy is largely compensating for the not clear enough bubble.

I like it a lot - congrats for that shot. I had the same points as Stephan mentioned. BUT- I think, that sometimes I try to improve a photo, some very unique effects disappear. What I mean: Having the bubble "lost in the background" let's the viewer search for the object the boy's looking at. I think it's great and may it a try worth, to isolate the bubble a bit more. focus

Thanks For the comments. I left the specks in the hair because they are bubble residue. Popped bubbles. He loves to try to popped the bubbles by pretending he's eating them. So, sorry but the specks stay. :) I guess only I knew what they were.

wonderful moment, agree that if you could bring out the bubble more without creating an unnatural look, it would make a very good shot fabulous.

Ben- I don't thik I can bring the bubble out more. It's so funny it has the reflction of my dining room windows in it. Almost looks like a smile! Maybe some PSC wizard, like my daughter-in-law (his mom) can do what I can't! Make it stand out more!

jayme, i wish i had an idea! perhaps darken the edges? create a layer mask and add contrast? not sure, sorry. another example of my lifelong mission to prove true the maxim, "easier said than done."

Ooh, I like Mr Wizard! :) Did you do this with just a blank layer and some digital paint? or what? Please give me some details! Thanks Wilson!

Jayme, funny when I saw this image and thought you certainly achieved the highkey look, but felt it can use a bit stronger side lighting from the right for more modeling, more volume (especially for the little bubble.) FWIW, here's what I propose (leaving background white since you're shooting for the highkey look.) ^_^

Jayme, didn't mean to mess up the dialogue sequence. I went back to add the border and you already beat me to it.

Anyway, I'm a simple-minded guy, so I kept it real simple: Duplicate layer > Darken the layer below > Erase tool (33% opacity) to erase above (original lighter) layer in the way that the desired darker area is revealed.

Boy, must be tons of fun to work with all the strobes, power packs, reflectors, etc. Did you convert your garage to a home studio?

Thanks Wilson, no I stole a large portion of our family room/sun porch. I think in the near future, I will be stealing it all. While it's only about 13 feet wide it's about 24 feet long. I have 3 walls of windows, which can be a problem in the early am, but mostly it's an asset because it allows quite a bit of mixture of natural light with the strobes. I can shut off the light, but I really enjoy using it.

Thanks for the tips, I'll try it!

Thanks Jason- Since I've been off work I've gotten some new ideas from various places. PN included. Now that I'm starting back, I can't wait to capture some really fun stuff!
