Hi Clive,

I personally prefer this one over the first.

Fist of all your head is more levelled in this one.

Secondly the softer light comes more from both sides (did you use an extra softbox?) which gives a much more sterile look to it. This emphasizes the shape of camera with the funny viewfinder in front of your face.

Great idea! beautiful and ,to my opinion, a technically flawless photograph!

Good luck

reminiscent of Andreas Feinenger's famous image.

What 's the story on the Contax II--a new camera or an old camera? Rangefinder, I presume?

beautifully done. comments on my portfolio welcomed also.

Pim, thanks for your feedback. The lighting was pretty straight forward and for me it had to be as I was photographing myself using a remote in my left hand. I only have one soft box at the moment and this was placed to camera left. To camera right was an umbrella and behind me is an open bulb. All three flash units are Bowens. All the metering is done using a Sekonic L508..........................

Michael. The Contax G2 is a rangefinder camera that I purchased new in 1997 and not long after it was brought into production. This was my favourite film camera until various digital cameras stormed into my life--now I hardly use it. I keep threatening to take it out and shoot a few rolls with the 21mm lens, which is absolutely brilliant, but then I look at my Olympus E1 and finally decide to "use it next time"! This is the lens you see on the camera in this photo and the reason for the need of a separate viewfinder. Contax was originally a German company, purchased more recently by Kyocera who have just announced that it is ceasing production of the brand

Both compelling. I think I prefer the white shirt though - the tilt of the head conveys a curious persona and accentuates the viewfinder/lens as eyes, and tones are richer too.
