j._scott_schrader 0 Posted March 24, 2005 There are so many images of breasts on this site. 95% of them are horrible as far as photography is concerned. They all get rave reviews because of the subject matter (breasts) rather than the photography. This one is quite different. Some thought went into the composition. You have included a repetition of shape...the curve of the chin mimmicks the curve of the breast. The negative space in the concave area of the sternum also implies that same graceful curve. This repetition of shape is very effective in photographs. You have also managed to play with color in a very effective manner. The tone of the lips and the nipple play off of each other. They are the only two spots of that have the richer coloration/tone which serves the purpose of drawing the eye to them. Finally, the fact that you composed this image in a strong diagonal (from top left to bottom right) makes it much more dynamic than any other choice of composition. The straight line of her arm coming up from the corner and the straight line of cheek coming down from the top left corner provide a wonderful juxtaposition to the curves. ( Which serves to further emaphasize the curves.) Finally the warm monochome tonality of the image really works beautifully. I'd have to say that this is exquisitely executed. (I rarely take the time to comment on nudes...this one is exceptional.) Link to comment
