1st Day of Spring. More Snow!

"Kitten, let me tell you about Spring. You're too young to remember, but the snow will pass."

"Where does it go, Daddy?"

"Even we felines don't know that answer. We just let the humans worry about it, and the TV weatherman decides. But when it's gone, we can do so many things you haven't done yet. We can go outside ..."

"But my fur will get all wet and cold!"

"Not after Spring really comes, my kitten, you'll see. The snow goes away, the grass grows back, we can run under bushes with leaves, we can lie in the sunshine until we're too warm, and then move into the shade to cool off."

"Daddy, that sounds so good. Can we do it today?"

"No, we still have to wait a while. But, while we wait, listen: I'll tell you about birds ..."

There's a lot to like in this picture, though I wish the shadows weren't quite so deep. Perhaps low-level fill flash (or turn on the lights?). There's a pretty good amount of data here, though, especially out the window. I've attached a modified version, done basically as follows (using PS6): Created a new layer via copy (100% opacity), and, in the new layer, applied the image to itself via multiply at 100% to punch up contrast, then used the history brush to return most everything but the window to the previous state (there's probably an easier way to do it that I don't know). I'm not so bothered by the depth of the shadows when my eye finds more interest elsewhere. See what you think.
