LenMarriott 9 Posted March 18, 2005 Cary, Beautiful environmental portrait of this predator. Shallow DOF nicely isolates it against the undistracting background while leaving it's perch and the bird sharp. Just enough wing tip motion to give the impression of motion. Gorgeous deep rich colours thanks, probably, to the bright but soft light & perfect exposure. You must have felt giddy with pleasure when you saw what you had captured. Rightly so! Worthy of a large print to display your expertise to friends and family (or potential buyers?). Borrowed for my screen saver for a short while if that's OK with you. Best, LM. Link to comment
Michael R Freeman 63 Posted March 18, 2005 Great shot! If only the left wing were a little less blurred it would be perfect. But nature isn't perfect, and opportunities like this are few and far between in the wild. Nice job. Link to comment

cghubbell 0 Posted March 18, 2005 It would be truly amazing if that wing were sharp... But I have to say that it wasn't until I closed my jaw and blinked a few times that I was able to think about technicalities. This image immediately drew me into the scene and almost had a few frames of motion built in to the feel. Amazing work - I would be very proud to have this in my portfolio. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 18, 2005 The image is awesome to look at. Birds land at near zero velocity. This hawk's head and body are nearly motionless while the wings slow the motion and maintain lift. Your photo documents the details very well. Link to comment
jassi_lee 0 Posted March 18, 2005 Excellent light and composition. Eyes right where it is landing. Depth of field is shallow and has made the eagle stand out against the background. Link to comment
