Another nicely done light painting! I must begin experimenting with this. Does the candle's light effect your approach?

Thanks to everybody.

Chris, it didn't affect it in this case since its only needed to lit for two seconds. After that candle was stifled and light painting continued for next 28 secs. Let me know when you get some experiments done - I will be very interested to see results. Regards

Sergei, Glad to see that you have added books and new objects to the light painting. It looks much richer than before. I know that there is an explanation somewhere about the technic, do you know about it? can you tell me( email) where to find it? or explaine it? Thanks Pnina

Thanks to all of you for your comments.

Pnina Evental- Thanks, I tried to please you.

It is not a secret techtique of some kind and its called light painting. For professional photographers there is a special equipment available with set of different light brushes. Method is based on lighting the picture with correspondently wide ray of light. (Now I am going to say about still life equipment only.)

Mine has been self-made and it is 6cm wide. Technique is not extremely complex but is not easy as well and require some practice

sinse, as you know that different subjects reflect and absorb light differently and you have to take it into account when painting. For example, red and white grapes require different time of lightening. Second common problem is double shadows, which you can get when object has been lightened number of times. So, you'll need to tend to light your work in one go.In my case it takes up to 30 times before I get something more or less decent. What is extremely difficult in this work is candle light which is in disagreement with a shadow on a silver glass. So, technically I am not very happy about this one. Anyway, practice makes perfect. I didn't see articles on the Internet? so can't recommend anything really, but there are boooks available.

If there other questions regarding details- drop me a line, I'll try to explain.

Sergei,Thanks for the explanation. I like to understand how it is done, I'm not sure yet that I will use it, but who knows...

I realy like the light on the old books( at least they look old...) but in general I think that adding more element to your fruits compositions will make them richer even it may pose lighting problems....Well done sergei, I realy like it!. Pnina

excellent work, Sergei, and thanks for the tutorial on the method. i am sure it took you some practice to get to the level of mastery you are showing. i have noticed that most of the objects in your images have closed surfaces. what about the sectioned objects, like in Dutch paintings - cut lemons, cracked eggs, sliced hams. they may present a challende. i can't wait to see your results!
