I have made a boo boo - i am always interested in what camera/film is used and I just realised that I did not change my setting. This was taken with a Canon Ixus 400 (4mp).

The picture is a good start, but it looks like you need a faster lense, and faster shutter speed to freeze the action and get a better silouette.

As for equipment. I would go with at least a Canon Digital Rebel 300, the new Canon Rebel XT, or if you really want to step it up go for the Canon 20D.

Event Photograpghy is my specialty from the last few years. I have shot at least 200 events with DJ's and concerts in the last few years. I have been using the Sony F717 - 5 Megapixel camera, but I just got my new Canon 20D and 28-105 lense, and Iw ill be getting the 15 mm lense soon also for wide shots.

Please take a look here EKreating.com for some other ideas and leave feedback and comment also.

You are on a nice start.

I second Eric comment - all you can do with the ixus is too exercise your eye everytime, averywhere because of its weight. I mean take a lot of photos. But you have not much control over it. So... I'm also doing events, parties, and concerts. I've done them during 2 years with a point and shoot camera then 2 years with a dslr (canon 10d). A whole world of difference but the first part was certainly not a lost of time.
